Psalm 19:14  May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Some days call for simple prayers to start the day. Here King David committed his way to the LORD. He asked for God’s presence in his every thought, God’s guidance in every activity.

How would your life be different if you invited God to shape your thoughts and to drive out worries, fears, and those comforting sins you ponder from time to time?

How would your life be different if you invited God to direct your steps, to lead you along the path today, to go where he wants you to go, to say what he wants you to say, and to do what he wants you to do?

How would your evening reflections before bedtime shift if you lived in the conscious awareness of the immediate presence of God in all of your thinking and behaving, speaking and acting?

Let’s give it a try you and I. Pray King David’s prayer. Write it down and carry it with you. Return to it as often as necessary to remind yourself to invite God into every conversation, every activity.

What if we did this day by day, every day?

How about turning this kind of prayer into a life-giving habit? Pray like this for the next thirty days. Incorporate this into your routines and rhythms. Allow God to shape your life.

Notice King David’s testimony about thinking God’s thoughts with him:

“They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb. By them your servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward.”
‭‭(verses 10, 11)

  • They are more precious than much pure gold.
  • They are sweeter than honey.
  • They provide warnings.
  • They deliver great rewards.

I will invite our Father to shape my thoughts and to guide my actions in all things today and every day.

Our Father, may these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. Amen.
