Matthew 5:9  Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

Who is the most peaceful being in existence? Hint: It is also the one who is the most joyful. He is also the very definition of love.

Our Father in heaven is eternally in perfect peace. If we ever find ourselves in a truly peaceful state, it is because we are in deep communion with him.

In a day when politicians and religious leaders, among others, simply want to fight, fight, fight, our Father in heaven wants peace, peace, peace. He wants it for you, and he wants it for me. He wants it in our lives for everyone to see.

If you want people to know you know Jesus, you don’t have to start every conversation with, “Hi, I’m Dave and I love Jesus. Do you?” Instead, you show them the face of Christ at the point of their need.

It’s like writing a scene. Which is more picturesque:

Bob was annoyed. His agitation was about to drive him to lash out in anger.

Or

Bob stood with hands on his hips, his eyes were fixed like lasers, his breathing pattern indicated he was about to blow.

Now, consider the face of peace.

“‘What do you want me to do for you?’ Jesus asked him. The blind man said, ‘Rabbi, I want to see.’ ‘Go,’ said Jesus, ‘your faith has healed you.’ Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road,” (Mark 10:51, 52).

What did the formerly blind man see when he looked at Jesus? Don’t you think it was peace, love, and joy?

Here are some thoughts worth thinking and some actions worth taking:

  • Peaceful people do not bully.
  • Peaceful people do not shove.
  • Peaceful people do not shout in anger.
  • Peaceful people listen more than they talk.
  • Peaceful people live unhurried lives.

Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid,” (John 14:27).

“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone,” (Romans 12:18).

Just so you know, there are a lot more verses like these in the Bible.

We are never more like God than when we lead with love, make peace, and spread joy.

I will learn the ways of peace, love, and joy.

Our Father, make me a peacemaker. Empower me to live at peace with everyone as far as it depends on me. Overflow my life with your love and joy. Make me the kind of man others enjoy being around. Amen.

Isaiah 37:16 ”Lord of Armies, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you are God — you alone — of all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the heavens and the earth.“

Daily D – Isaiah 32:17

Isaiah 32:17
The result of righteousness will be peace;
the effect of righteousness will be quiet confidence forever.

Daily D – Isaiah 26:3-4

Isaiah 26:3, 4
You will keep the mind that is dependent on you
in perfect peace,
for it is trusting in you.
Trust in the Lord forever,
because in the LORD, the LORD himself, is an everlasting rock!

Daily D – Psalm 113

Psalm 113
Hallelujah!
Give praise, servants of the LORD;
praise the name of the LORD.
Let the name of the LORD be blessed
both now and forever.
From the rising of the sun to its setting,
let the name of the LORD be praised.

The LORD is exalted above all the nations,
his glory above the heavens.
Who is like the LORD our God —
the one enthroned on high,
who stoops down to look
on the heavens and the earth?
He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the trash heap
in order to seat them with nobles —
with the nobles of his people.
He gives the childless woman a household,
making her the joyful mother of children.
Hallelujah!

Daily D – Psalm 112:4-9

Psalm 112:4-9
Light shines in the darkness for the upright.
He is gracious, compassionate, and righteous.
Good will come to the one who lends generously
and conducts his business fairly.
He will never be shaken.
The righteous one will be remembered forever.
He will not fear bad news;
his heart is confident, trusting in the LORD.
His heart is assured; he will not fear.
In the end he will look in triumph on his foes.
He distributes freely to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever.
His horn will be exalted in honor.
