1 Kings 10:23, 24  King Solomon was greater in riches and wisdom than all the other kings of the earth. The whole world sought audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom God had put in his heart.

What did the people of Solomon’s day want from him, the richest man alive? They wanted to hear the wisdom God had put in his heart. People who walk closely with God attract others who want to know and experience God.

Here’s a convicting question to ponder: What do people want from you?

This question has been working its way into my soul this morning. Here is another to accompany it: How should I adjust my life so that people come to me more in search of the wisdom God has put in my heart?

Here is a simple plan to move me in the right direction:

Step one: Spend more time alone with God day by day.
Step two: Listen deeply to what God says.
Step three: Do what he says.
Step four: Help others learn how to hear and obey God.

There are likely other important steps to take. These are a good start in the right direction. I trust God will make the next steps clear as I take these steps as life-giving habits.

I will get to know and experience God through intentional encounters day by day and moment by moment.

Our Father, I want to know you and experience you and to help others do the same. Give me ears to hear what you are saying to me day by day and moment by moment. Give me a willing and obedient heart to do whatever you say when you say it. Give me the kind of life that overflows with your goodness and grace into the lives of others. Amen.

I have called you by your name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you,
and the rivers will not overwhelm you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be scorched,
