Daniel 2:30  “As for me, this mystery has been revealed to me, not because I have greater wisdom than anyone else alive, but so that Your Majesty may know the interpretation and that you may understand what went through your mind.”

Great leaders serve others. Poor leaders make everything about themselves.

Daniel, in effect, says here, “It’s not about me.”

What was important was not the messenger, but The Message. God was speaking to the king. It took someone who walked with God to deliver God’s message.

With apologies to Marshall McLuhan, the medium was not the message. It was not Daniel’s platform that gave him this opportunity to speak into the king’s life. It was Daniel’s ear attuned to God’s voice that gave him the opportunity to take the action necessary to save many lives.

When you hear politicians politicking, when you hear celebrity sermonizers sermonize, listen carefully to their language. Those who talk about themselves —  “My administration” and “My church” — are quite likely leading us astray.

Contrast this with Daniel’s way of life and his communication of every message he delivered. As he heard what God said, he wanted the intended recipients of the message to hear what God said. The Message is what mattered.

Daniel knew better than to get in the way of The Message.

Think of this way: Humans require spotlights. Jesus is the Light of the World.

I will hear and deliver God’s message without any desire for personal attention.

Our Father, give me ears to hear what you are saying. Empower me to deliver your truth in whatever manner you select. Deliver me from the temptations of excess attention. Amen.

Daily D – Isaiah 37:16

Isaiah 37:16 ”Lord of Armies, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you are God — you alone — of all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the heavens and the earth.“

Daily D – Isaiah 32:17

Isaiah 32:17
The result of righteousness will be peace;
the effect of righteousness will be quiet confidence forever.

Daily D – Isaiah 26:3-4

Isaiah 26:3, 4
You will keep the mind that is dependent on you
in perfect peace,
for it is trusting in you.
Trust in the Lord forever,
because in the LORD, the LORD himself, is an everlasting rock!

Daily D – Psalm 113

Psalm 113
Hallelujah!
Give praise, servants of the LORD;
praise the name of the LORD.
Let the name of the LORD be blessed
both now and forever.
From the rising of the sun to its setting,
let the name of the LORD be praised.

The LORD is exalted above all the nations,
his glory above the heavens.
Who is like the LORD our God —
the one enthroned on high,
who stoops down to look
on the heavens and the earth?
He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the trash heap
in order to seat them with nobles —
with the nobles of his people.
He gives the childless woman a household,
making her the joyful mother of children.
Hallelujah!

Daily D – Psalm 112:4-9

Psalm 112:4-9
Light shines in the darkness for the upright.
He is gracious, compassionate, and righteous.
Good will come to the one who lends generously
and conducts his business fairly.
He will never be shaken.
The righteous one will be remembered forever.
He will not fear bad news;
his heart is confident, trusting in the LORD.
His heart is assured; he will not fear.
In the end he will look in triumph on his foes.
He distributes freely to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever.
His horn will be exalted in honor.
