Nehemiah 8:8
They read from the Book of the Law of God, making it clear and giving the meaning so that the people understood what was being read. (NIV)

They read from the Book of the Law of God and clearly explained the meaning of what was being read, helping the people understand each passage. (NLT)

The task of honest communication is clear understanding. Never be clever if it obscures clarity.

For example, “obscures clarity” is a perfectly acceptable and meaningful word pair. The word “obscure” as used here means to conceal something. The word “clarity” means intelligible.

Let’s try it again. Do not hide the clear meaning. Speak or write the clear meaning.

There is an assumption we should make when we attempt to explain something. The assumption is people who place themselves in positions to learn from us have an important request in mind. The request is the simple phrase, “Help me understand.”

A new friend asked a question over dinner last night. He wanted to know how I lead a particular training process. His question lacked precision. Or better, his question was not clear. It was too broad. I replied, “Tell me more.” His next question added the information he assumed the first time.

Speak and write simply without becoming simplistic.

The simple reading and explanation of what God had said to his people so many years before brought people to tears. Truth is powerful. It stands well on its own two feet.

The two basic rules of effective communication are
* Keep it simple.
* Make it clear.

I will speak and write the truth simply and clearly.

Our Father, thank you for making your words of truth and life easy to understand. Empower us to communicate your words in a manner those who hear them or read them can easily understand them. Amen.

Isaiah 37:16 ”Lord of Armies, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you are God — you alone — of all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the heavens and the earth.“

Daily D – Isaiah 32:17

Isaiah 32:17
The result of righteousness will be peace;
the effect of righteousness will be quiet confidence forever.

Daily D – Isaiah 26:3-4

Isaiah 26:3, 4
You will keep the mind that is dependent on you
in perfect peace,
for it is trusting in you.
Trust in the Lord forever,
because in the LORD, the LORD himself, is an everlasting rock!

Daily D – Psalm 113

Psalm 113
Hallelujah!
Give praise, servants of the LORD;
praise the name of the LORD.
Let the name of the LORD be blessed
both now and forever.
From the rising of the sun to its setting,
let the name of the LORD be praised.

The LORD is exalted above all the nations,
his glory above the heavens.
Who is like the LORD our God —
the one enthroned on high,
who stoops down to look
on the heavens and the earth?
He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the trash heap
in order to seat them with nobles —
with the nobles of his people.
He gives the childless woman a household,
making her the joyful mother of children.
Hallelujah!

Daily D – Psalm 112:4-9

Psalm 112:4-9
Light shines in the darkness for the upright.
He is gracious, compassionate, and righteous.
Good will come to the one who lends generously
and conducts his business fairly.
He will never be shaken.
The righteous one will be remembered forever.
He will not fear bad news;
his heart is confident, trusting in the LORD.
His heart is assured; he will not fear.
In the end he will look in triumph on his foes.
He distributes freely to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever.
His horn will be exalted in honor.
