2 Corinthians 3:17, 18  Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. (NIV)

When you gaze in the mirror, do you see who you were or who you are becoming? If you belong to Jesus, you will see his transformative work in you as you move from your troubled past into your glorious future.

When Peter, James, and John beheld Jesus’ transformative glory on the Mount of Transfiguration, they never wanted to leave.

Ponder this.

In the perfection of his beauty, in the wonder of who he really is, those men were ready to lay aside everything forever. They wanted to remain in his presence in all his glory.

Jesus escorted his three disciples back down the mountain just as Moses had to go back to the camp from God’s presence. Trouble awaited on both occasions. Our mornings with God prepare us to bear his goodness and glory in the troubles we encounter throughout our days. We bring his transforming presence to the problems created by disregarding his way, truth, and life.

Daily visits with our Father in heaven transform our hearts and minds. His presence becomes ever more visible to others. Features soften and shine. Smiles come easily and unforced. Speech is shaped by gentle regard.

We cannot enter the presence of God and leave unchanged.

I will enter into God’s presence day by day so that I may bear his presence all along the way.

Our Father, thank you for bidding us come into your presence. Thank you for opening the way through what Jesus did for us on the cross. Thank you that we come with him. Thank you for your ongoing shaping of our lives. Thank you for squeezing out the impurities. Thank you for turning our brokenness into your masterpiece of grace. I want what John the Baptist said in John 3:30: More Jesus, please. More transformation. More of your glory. Amen.
