Exodus 31:1-5 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Look, I have specifically chosen Bezalel son of Uri, grandson of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. I have filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts. He is a master craftsman, expert in working with gold, silver, and bronze. He is skilled in engraving and mounting gemstones and in carving wood. He is a master at every craft!” (NLT)

What craft have you mastered? What do you do better than ten thousand others? How has God smiled on your life that makes others smile with deep joy?

Our son-in-law is a lot like Bezalel. He has the gift of seeing what is not and turning it into reality. I love watching his mind work. I have helped him with some of his projects. When I say I helped him, what I mean is I stood around and handed him things when he needed them and they were otherwise out of his reach.

Our black dog is an alarm clock. Even when I need to sleep later than normal due to illness or unusual fatigue, I cannot doze past 6:30. This is when Millie eats breakfast. She comes to my side of the bed, places her front paws gently on the mattress, and softly licks my ear. There are worse wake-up calls.

What do you do that brings joy and delight to others? This is a gift of God. He empowers you to create beautiful things to enrich the lives of others. Good work well done is a testimony of God’s grace and his purpose for our lives.

I will commit myself to using the skills God has given me to build a better world.

Our Father, empower me to live the kind of life that builds a better world. Amen.
