The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the LORD; he guides it wherever he pleases. PROVERBS 21:1 (NLT)

_____________________________________________________________________________

Like many things associated with Monday, this missive did not go as planned. Apologies for the technical difficulty. Feel free to have two Mondays this week if you dare.

Good leadership is a channel of water controlled by GOD; he directs it to whatever ends he chooses.
The Message

Sleep was deep and satisfying last night. I had no idea what day it was when I awoke moments before my Apple Watch began vibrating. It took a bit of sorting out to acknowledge Saturday and Sunday’s passing and Monday’s arrival.

Monday has such a bad reputation. People have more heart attacks on Monday than any other day of the week. This is also the day people choose to quit their jobs most often. It is also the day most people get fired. Of course, I haven’t read any updated information on those last couple of sentences and they might be completely wrong. However, it is early on Monday morning and I am not going to look it up now. I have better things to do.

Rather than linger a little too long on depressing thoughts like those, I will turn to better things. This is a new day. This is a new workweek full of opportunities. This is the day I carry out the garbage.

Carrying out the garbage is a good start to the week. It reminds us how some things are better left behind. Some things are better discarded. Before we can get on with what’s next, we have to make wise decisions about what lingers. As precious as it was to have a tiny baby with us for the weekend, those dirty diapers have got to go.

Some things require recycling. Their usefulness in their present form has come to an end here in our home. However, they may return someday in a renewed shape and form. We will give them that opportunity.

Once the garbage and recycling are moved into position for what’s next, it is time to get on with what is next for a productive and effective day. I have plans. They include others. Important work will be accomplished today. Weaving through and around these appointments, events, and tasks is God’s direction. He may have us pause for a bit in one area. He may have us give more attention to one thing and less to another.

Our Father may speak some truth to our hearts and minds which brings reorientation to an entire process. He may provide insight to adjust or reset our thinking. He is in charge. What he knows is superior by far to what I know. He has full freedom and permission to interrupt my reasoning at any moment.

Where will God direct you today? What will he guide your focus? What will he empower you to accomplish? What will you do to honor him and to serve others? What will you do today to build a better world?

Step into God’s flow. Refuse to drift through this day. Move with the intentionality of his direction. Accomplish all he has purposed for you. Finish the day well. When you lie down to rest, may it bring a smile to you and to our Father in heaven.

It’s Monday. This is a good day to be led into meaningful work and purposeful action.

I will step into God’s flow.

Our Father, direct my heart wherever you see fit. I want to go where you want me to go, do what you want me to do, accomplish what you want me to accomplish. Amen.

Daily D – Psalm 113

Psalm 113
Hallelujah!
Give praise, servants of the LORD;
praise the name of the LORD.
Let the name of the LORD be blessed
both now and forever.
From the rising of the sun to its setting,
let the name of the LORD be praised.

The LORD is exalted above all the nations,
his glory above the heavens.
Who is like the LORD our God —
the one enthroned on high,
who stoops down to look
on the heavens and the earth?
He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the trash heap
in order to seat them with nobles —
with the nobles of his people.
He gives the childless woman a household,
making her the joyful mother of children.
Hallelujah!

Daily D – Psalm 112:4-9

Psalm 112:4-9
Light shines in the darkness for the upright.
He is gracious, compassionate, and righteous.
Good will come to the one who lends generously
and conducts his business fairly.
He will never be shaken.
The righteous one will be remembered forever.
He will not fear bad news;
his heart is confident, trusting in the LORD.
His heart is assured; he will not fear.
In the end he will look in triumph on his foes.
He distributes freely to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever.
His horn will be exalted in honor.
