The one who searches for what is good seeks favor, but if someone looks for trouble, it will come to him.
PROVERBS 11:27 (CSB)

_____________________________________________________________________________

Whoever seeks good finds favor, but evil comes to one who searches for it.(NIV)

If you search for good, you will find favor; but if you search for evil, it will find you. (NLT)

The one who seeks good finds delight; the student of evil becomes evil. (MSG)

One of the bottom-line truths of life is that we find what we look for. For example, some people look for grammar and syntax problems and are disappointed in how the previous sentence ended with a preposition.

Some people look for the good in everyone. Others look for flaws. Every person has a weakness, a blind spot, or a characteristic another person may find distasteful or irritating. Just about every person has some quality worth our focus.

We find what we are looking for. What do you look for in the people you meet? Additionally, what do you expect from others? Do you expect the best?

Another step: Do you help others experience the best? Do you help them seek and find the positive alternative?

This verse contains simple truth full of profound applications. What will you look for today?

_____________________________________________________________________________

I will seek for what is good.

_____________________________________________________________________________

Our Father, open my eyes to what is good. Empower me to look away from evil. Amen.
