Daily D – Zephaniah 3:17

The LORD your God is among you, a warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with gladness. He will be quiet in his love. He will delight in you with singing.
ZEPHANIAH 3:17 (CSB)

For the LORD your God is living among you.
He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.
(New Living Translation)
 

This verse makes it sound as if God’s greatest desire is bringing each one of us into a right relationship with himself. Come to think about it, that has been the case ever since Adam and Eve sinned. It is why Jesus came to seek and to save the lost. 

John Newton, the former slave ship captain turned gospel minister said, “Although my memory’s fading, I remember two things very clearly: I am a great sinner and Christ is a great Savior.” The truth of this statement is expressed more fully in Newton’s hymn Amazing Grace. 

This is a text to commit to memory. Let it impress itself into your heart and your mind so deeply that when all other memories fade, this one remains. 

  • He is a mighty savior. 
  • He takes delight in you with gladness.
  • He in his love calms all your fears.
  • He rejoices over you with joyful songs.

I will praise and thank God for his amazing grace.

Our Father, I am a great sinner. You are a great savior. I once was lost, but now am found, was blind, but now I see. I will echo your joyful songs with songs of praise and thanksgiving. A soul that has been saved cannot help but sing of your amazing grace. Amen.
