Then a large crowd of the Jews learned he was there. They came not only because of Jesus but also to see Lazarus, the one he had raised from the dead. because he was the reason many of the Jews were deserting them and believing in Jesus.”
JOHN 12:9-11 (CSB)

In 1979, a band called Supertramp had a hit with a song called, The Logical Song. Apparently, the Jewish leaders of Jesus’ day were not big on logic. Jesus said, “I am the Resurrection and the Life,” (John 11:25). Then he proved it by raising Lazarus from the dead.

Now these illogical leaders decided they would kill both Lazarus and Jesus. The plan was that this time Lazarus would stay dead because Jesus would also be dead and unable to raise him back to life.

Illogic is so illogical.

Pride of position and place (11:48) is dangerous. Pride, as my former professor and friend Jim Denison likes to say, will take us farther than we want to go and keep us longer than we want to stay. (See The Denison Forum, denisonforum.org.)

Pride kills. Pride kills what it hates. Pride sows the seeds of its own destruction.

So many people see Jesus and see something other than what he is. It is always a good question to ponder: To you, who is Jesus?

No one ever taught like this man.
No one ever lived like this man.
No one ever healed like this man.
No one ever raised people from the dead like this man.
No one ever rose from the dead like this man.

Today is a good day to see Jesus for who he is. Today is a good day to receive his gift of life eternal and abundant. Today is a good day to see the world and all its people through his eyes.

“See! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me,”
(Revelation‬ ‭3:20‬). Our hospitable Savior wants to come in and share with you all of his goodness. As Sir Paul McCartney sang, “Open the door and let him in.”

I will know and experience Jesus for who he is.

Our Father, Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. You have made this plain to us. Give us eyes to see Jesus for who he is. Give us open hearts to receive him. Give us helpful hands to serve others in his name. Amen.

Daily D – Isaiah 37:16

Isaiah 37:16 ”Lord of Armies, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you are God — you alone — of all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the heavens and the earth.“

Daily D – Isaiah 32:17

Isaiah 32:17
The result of righteousness will be peace;
the effect of righteousness will be quiet confidence forever.

Daily D – Isaiah 26:3-4

Isaiah 26:3, 4
You will keep the mind that is dependent on you
in perfect peace,
for it is trusting in you.
Trust in the Lord forever,
because in the LORD, the LORD himself, is an everlasting rock!

Daily D – Psalm 113

Psalm 113
Hallelujah!
Give praise, servants of the LORD;
praise the name of the LORD.
Let the name of the LORD be blessed
both now and forever.
From the rising of the sun to its setting,
let the name of the LORD be praised.

The LORD is exalted above all the nations,
his glory above the heavens.
Who is like the LORD our God —
the one enthroned on high,
who stoops down to look
on the heavens and the earth?
He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the trash heap
in order to seat them with nobles —
with the nobles of his people.
He gives the childless woman a household,
making her the joyful mother of children.
Hallelujah!

Daily D – Psalm 112:4-9

Psalm 112:4-9
Light shines in the darkness for the upright.
He is gracious, compassionate, and righteous.
Good will come to the one who lends generously
and conducts his business fairly.
He will never be shaken.
The righteous one will be remembered forever.
He will not fear bad news;
his heart is confident, trusting in the LORD.
His heart is assured; he will not fear.
In the end he will look in triumph on his foes.
He distributes freely to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever.
His horn will be exalted in honor.
