Exodus 33:13  “If it is true that you look favorably on me, let me know your ways so I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your favor. And remember that this nation is your very own people.” (NLT)

Those who come to know God as more than a name, more than an idea, want to know more of who he is. They want to know his ways. Having experienced his grace and mercy, they desire to wade deeper into this love that endures forever.

Sunday worship is a good time to get to know God better. There we are surrounded by others who seek to know his will and ways. In the company of such seekers, we find strength and encouragement. We stand with other pilgrims. We join brothers and sisters on a journey.

Morning by morning, or evening by evening, or both, are good times to get to know God better as well. Learning to see his thumbprint on our lives and in the lives of others is instructive. This becomes clearer many times in retrospect. This is where a daily journal and gratitude journal come in handy. They help us identify and ponder what we often hurry past along the way.

Here is a Sunday prayer: “Our Father, I want to know you and your ways. I want to understand your heart. I want to think your thoughts after you. I want to adjust my life so that I can join you in bringing grace and mercy and peace and wonder in increasing measure into this world of yours. Amen.”

I will seek to know God and his ways.

Our Father, I want to know you and your ways. I want to understand your heart. I want to think your thoughts after you. I want to adjust my life so that I can join you in bringing grace and mercy and peace and wonder in increasing measure into this world of yours. Amen.

Daily D – 1 Timothy 2:1-4

1 Timothy 2:1-4 “I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.”

Daily D – 2 Thessalonians 1:3

2 Thessalonians 1:3 “Dear brothers and sisters, we can’t help but thank God for you, because your faith is flourishing and your love for one another is growing.”

Daily D – 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3

1 Thessalonians 1:2, 3 “We always thank God for all of you and pray for you constantly. As we pray to our God and Father about you, we think of your faithful work, your loving deeds, and the enduring hope you have because of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Daily D – Colossians 2:8-10

Colossians 2:8-10 “Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.”

Daily D – Philippians 2:2-5

Philippians 2:2-5 Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.

Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
