1 Chronicles 29:17 “I know, my God, that you examine our hearts and rejoice when you find integrity there. You know I have done all this with good motives, and I have watched your people offer their gifts willingly and joyously.” (NLT)

Prayer from a heart of integrity and pure motives moves God’s heart. Integrity synchronizes the mind, will, and emotions in joyful submission to God’s eternal purposes. Pure motives desire exclusively what God wants for us.

Powerful prayer is a matter of laying down my desires and taking up God’s desires for me.

Powerful prayer acknowledges God as the Giver of All Good Things. (See King David’s full prayer in verses 11-19.)

Powerful prayer declares God’s greatness, power, glory, victory, and majesty (verse 11).

Powerful prayer understands we and everything we call our own belongs to God.

Powerful prayer seeks God’s highest and best for others (verses 18, 19).

Prayer is powerful when we trust that God knows all about us and loves us anyway and when we can think of nothing better for ourselves or others than what God wants for us.

How will you pray today?

I will pray from a heart of integrity and pure motives.

Our Father, you are the Giver of All Good Things. What you want for me is far superior to anything I could want for myself. Examine my heart. Drive out anything keeping me from integrity. Examine my motives. Replace anything impure with your gracious goodness. Empower me to pray with integrity and pure motives now and always. Amen.
