2 Chronicles 6:30, 31  “Give your people what their actions deserve, for you alone know each human heart. Then they will fear you and walk in your ways as long as they live in the land you gave to our ancestors.” (NLT)

Two short-sighted, ill-considered statements: “I want what I deserve” and “I will do what I want to do no matter what.” These declarations show how we are not as good or as smart as we think we are.

King Solomon prayed, “Give your people what their actions deserve, for you alone know each human heart. Then they will fear you and walk in your ways as long as they live in the land you gave to our ancestors.” Our just deserts ([https://bit.ly/3I5oVOK] ) are not nearly as savory as we would prefer. We learn to walk along God’s better pathways when we make our own way one time too many.

Gratefully, our Father’s correcting hand is as gentle as possible and as firm as necessary. Long walks with God are not marked with detours or unnecessary delays. They are instead timely, thoughtful, reflective, and thrilling. They are characterized by adventure and joy. Perspective is shaped on those paths. Possibilities are magnified step by step. Hope reserves are filled full to overflowing.

Two well-considered statements to reorient our lives are, “I want what You want for me” and “I will do what you want when you want it done.” Obedience is unburdening our souls of unhelpful baggage in exchange for gifts God gives when we need what only he can provide.

I will seek God’s will and ways over the course of all of my days.

Our Father, your will, your way, this is trust, this I pray. Amen.

Isaiah 37:16 ”Lord of Armies, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you are God — you alone — of all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the heavens and the earth.“

Daily D – Isaiah 32:17

Isaiah 32:17
The result of righteousness will be peace;
the effect of righteousness will be quiet confidence forever.

Daily D – Isaiah 26:3-4

Isaiah 26:3, 4
You will keep the mind that is dependent on you
in perfect peace,
for it is trusting in you.
Trust in the Lord forever,
because in the LORD, the LORD himself, is an everlasting rock!

Daily D – Psalm 113

Psalm 113
Hallelujah!
Give praise, servants of the LORD;
praise the name of the LORD.
Let the name of the LORD be blessed
both now and forever.
From the rising of the sun to its setting,
let the name of the LORD be praised.

The LORD is exalted above all the nations,
his glory above the heavens.
Who is like the LORD our God —
the one enthroned on high,
who stoops down to look
on the heavens and the earth?
He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the trash heap
in order to seat them with nobles —
with the nobles of his people.
He gives the childless woman a household,
making her the joyful mother of children.
Hallelujah!

Daily D – Psalm 112:4-9

Psalm 112:4-9
Light shines in the darkness for the upright.
He is gracious, compassionate, and righteous.
Good will come to the one who lends generously
and conducts his business fairly.
He will never be shaken.
The righteous one will be remembered forever.
He will not fear bad news;
his heart is confident, trusting in the LORD.
His heart is assured; he will not fear.
In the end he will look in triumph on his foes.
He distributes freely to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever.
His horn will be exalted in honor.
