He remembered us in our weakness. His faithful love endures forever. PSALM 136:23 (NLT)

_____________________________________________________________________________

The first time I ever gave focused attention to this psalm was during chapel when I was in seminary. Dr. Bruce Leafblad led us in a call and response recitation. He would read the first half of the verse, for example, “He remembered us in our weakness.” The hundreds of students, mostly men, would respond, “His faithful love endures forever.”

Growing up in smaller membership Baptist churches in northeast Texas, there was not much mention of antiphonal worship. The Methodists and Presbyterians and Episcopalians may have done that kind of stuff, but not us Baptists.

That morning in chapel lingers in memory all these years later. The bottom line of life, the psalmist wanted us to remember, is that no matter what we face, no matter what we go through, our Father in heaven’s faithful love is never-ending.

God is love. He is the Eternal One. What motivates him and animates him is his unending love. His loving nature seeks our highest and best. His love endures forever.

Whatever your circumstances today or tomorrow or whenever, he loves you now and he will love you forever.

There is one truth that is truer than true: God loves me, and God loves you.

I will joyfully recall that I am loved by God.

Our Father, thank you for loving us now and loving us forever. Amen.

Daily D – 1 Timothy 2:1-4

1 Timothy 2:1-4 “I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.”

Daily D – 2 Thessalonians 1:3

2 Thessalonians 1:3 “Dear brothers and sisters, we can’t help but thank God for you, because your faith is flourishing and your love for one another is growing.”

Daily D – 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3

1 Thessalonians 1:2, 3 “We always thank God for all of you and pray for you constantly. As we pray to our God and Father about you, we think of your faithful work, your loving deeds, and the enduring hope you have because of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Daily D – Colossians 2:8-10

Colossians 2:8-10 “Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.”

Daily D – Philippians 2:2-5

Philippians 2:2-5 Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.

Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
