Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
And peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”
LUKE 2:13-14 (NLT)

God’s glory and our peace are connected.

The more we see him for who he is, the better we see ourselves for who we are.

The more we see him for who he is, the better we receive his grace.

The more we see him for who he is, the better we experience his peace.

Peace on earth is not a beauty contestant’s dream come true.

Peace on earth is not a political treaty enforced by armed peacekeepers.

Peace on earth is a united focus on the glory of God.

God’s glory is seen in his transcendence, his other-ness.

God’s glory is seen in his immanence, his with-us-ness.

Immanuel, God with us, Jesus, the Prince of Peace, makes peace not only possible but inevitable.

Know Jesus. Know Peace.

May yours be a Merry, and Peace-filled, Christmas.

I will experience God’s peace.

Our Father, we want your presence and your peace. These are your Christmas gifts. We joyfully receive them. Amen.

I have called you by your name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters,

and the rivers will not overwhelm you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be scorched,
and the flame will not burn you.“

do not be afraid, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you; I will help you;
I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.”
