In the spring when kings march out to war, David sent Joab with his officers and all Israel. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah, but David remained in Jerusalem.
2 SAMUEL 11:1 (CSB)

Be where you are supposed to be. Do what you are supposed to do. These simple guidelines solve a lot of problems before they start.

I have one responsibility today I really want to do. I have two others I am only moderately interested in at this moment before the coffee kicks in. From now until the end of the month is the busiest season I have experienced in the last year and a half.

The temptation is there to step out of some opportunities that looked good from a distance but less so up close.

That temptation would lead to other temptations which would no doubt lead to problems I do not really need.

Keep reading 2 Samuel 11 and 12 for what happens when we take the easy way, which isn’t the easy way, and fail to show up where we are supposed to be when we are supposed to be there. This is among the most disheartening accounts in the Bible.

I am confident that when I show up where I am supposed to be when I am supposed to be there that God will give me the strength I need for that moment.

Where are you supposed to be today? What are you supposed to do?

If half the battle is showing up, let’s show up. When we feel like we are ill-equipped for the fight, let’s trust God to provide what we need when we need it.

The coffee is kicking in now. The morning sun is glowing a little brighter. Victories are on the horizon.

I will show up where I need to be when I need to be there.

Our Father, lead me through this day and all I will encounter. I want to live strong in your strength. I want to be where you want me to be and to do what you want me to do. I want to honor you and serve others. Amen.

Then your peace would have been like a river,
and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.“

I have called you by your name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you,
and the rivers will not overwhelm you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be scorched,
and the flame will not burn you.“
