Psalm 119:133  Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me. (NIV)

Everybody struggles with something. Seek God in the struggle to exchange a moment’s pleasure for a lifetime of satisfaction.

There was a day when a first ten-mile run came to an end.

There was a moment when an intensive professional examination was completed after hours in front of a computer terminal.

There was a walk across a stage in academic regalia bearing testimony to books read, papers written, and discussions of extraordinary depth.

There is a shining moment ahead for all who punch sin in the face and choose God’s path, God’s provision, and God’s better gifts.

Here is a prayer for today: “Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me.”

I will seek God’s rule and reign in my moments of struggle.

Our Father, thank you for providing better for me than anything sin promises. Your gifts bring the deepest and most lasting satisfaction. Sin brings shame and regret. Empower me at every moment to walk away from sin’s enticements in exchange for joy enduring. Amen.

and what it is the Lord requires of you:
to act justly,
to love faithfulness,
and to walk humbly with your God.

Daily D – Micah 4:5

Daily D – Jonah 4:1-3

Jonah 4:1-3 Jonah was greatly displeased and became furious. He prayed to the Lord, “Please, Lord, isn’t this what I said while I was still in my own country? That’s why I fled toward Tarshish in the first place. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger, abounding in faithful love, and one who relents from sending disaster. And now, Lord, take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live.”

Daily D – Psalm 128:1-4

Psalm 128:1-4

How happy is everyone who fears the LORD,
who walks in his ways!
You will surely eat
what your hands have worked for.
You will be happy,
and it will go well for you.
Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
within your house,
your children, like young olive trees
around your table.
In this very way
the man who fears the LORD
will be blessed.
