2 Kings 23:25  Before him there was no king like him who turned to the Lord with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength according to all the law of Moses, and no one like him arose after him. (CSB)

Be that guy, the guy who does the right thing the right way at the right time for the right reason. The guy who does what’s right no matter what those who came before him did. The guy who does what’s right no matter what others may do after him.

Josiah’s life and reign also teach us another important lesson: Don’t get cocky, Kid. Verses 28-30 give us the details. He stepped into the path of two warring factions. It cost him his life. Confrontation is sometimes necessary. And sometimes, it will get you killed. Know when to stick your nose into other people’s hostilities and also when not to.

Two lessons:

1. Do the right thing, always.
2. Confront in a manner that makes things better or not at all.

I will do the right thing in all things at all times as I follow God’s leadership step by step.

Our Father, my idea of what the right thing to do is in any given situation may lack clarity and/or focus. Bless me with clarity. Give me wisdom in knowing when to step in and when to bow out. Give me the grace to keep from making things worse. Amen.

Daily D – Nahum 1:7

Nahum 1:7 The Lord is good, a stronghold in a day of distress; he cares for those who take refuge in him.

Daily D – Micah 6:8

Micah 6:8 Mankind, he has told each of you what is good
and what it is the Lord requires of you:
to act justly,
to love faithfulness,
and to walk humbly with your God.

Daily D – Micah 4:5

Micah 4:5 Though all the peoples walk in the name of their own gods, we will walk in the name of the Lord our God forever and ever.

Daily D – Jonah 4:1-3

Jonah 4:1-3 Jonah was greatly displeased and became furious. He prayed to the Lord, “Please, Lord, isn’t this what I said while I was still in my own country? That’s why I fled toward Tarshish in the first place. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger, abounding in faithful love, and one who relents from sending disaster. And now, Lord, take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live.”

Daily D – Psalm 128:1-4

Psalm 128:1-4

How happy is everyone who fears the LORD,
who walks in his ways!
You will surely eat
what your hands have worked for.
You will be happy,
and it will go well for you.
Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
within your house,
your children, like young olive trees
around your table.
In this very way
the man who fears the LORD
will be blessed.
