Daily D – Psalm 95:6-7
Psalm 95:6, 7 Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Today, if only you would hear his voice, . . .

We no longer have politics as usual. We no longer have political theater performed daily for insatiable news outlets. Instead, we have presidents and politicians calling one another enemies of the state.
We can engage. We can retreat. Or, much more helpfully, we can pray.
Turn to 1 Timothy 2:1-8. Take note of these words:
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.1 Timothy 2:1-6 NIV
And this:
Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing.
1 Timothy 2:8 NIV
Today’s reading from Ezekiel 21 declares these words in verse 27:
“A ruin! A ruin! I will make it a ruin! The crown will not be restored until he to whom it rightfully belongs shall come; to him I will give it.’
Ezekiel 21:27 NIV
Let’s remember who is ultimately in charge here. Come, Lord Jesus.

I will pray for the leaders we need and to be delivered from the leaders we deserve.

Our Father, forgive us for esteeming human leaders far too highly. Forgive us for not listening for your voice and for not following your clear directions. Please lead us from where we are to where we need to be. Bless us with the leaders we need and deliver us from the leaders we deserve. Amen.
