2 Samuel 22:31
“God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection.” (NLT)

What a God! His road
stretches straight and smooth.
Every GOD-direction is road-tested.
Everyone who runs toward him
Makes it.
(The Message)

Way back in 1971, Billy Graham’s famous slogan was, One Way.

Jesus said,

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me,” (John 14:6 NLT).

A new song on the radio said,

Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run
And there’s still time to change the road you’re on*

This song is what counts as wisdom when you are twelve years old. The high school graduates who were teaching the Sunday School lesson that morning certainly thought they were wise. I liked Led Zeppelin, but I wasn’t sure this was actually wisdom. If you read the whole course of lyrics to this song, this couplet begins to sound like someone working hard to make words of poetry rhyme over a long course of verses.

Be what it may
they tried to teach us that day,
there is only one road,
only one way

See what I mean about trying to make lyrics rhyme? This stimulates a thought: Which is more important? The words or the rhyme? The answer, I suppose, is “It depends.” Do you desire accuracy, or do you want to win friends?

Simple truths are profound. Billy was right. Jesus is the One Way, the only way to know and experience God’s gift of salvation.

King David tells us a few facts about God’s Way:

1. God’s way is perfect.
2. All of God’s promises come true.
3. God protects all who depend on him.

Messrs. Page and Plant advise changing roads when you realize you’re on the wrong one. Today is a good day and now is a good time to get started down the One Way that always takes you the Right Way. It is the High Way. And, as Mr. Peterson says in The Message,

Everyone who runs toward him
Makes it.

This is a good day to run to Jesus.

I will walk the One Way.

Our Father, show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. Amen.

Daily D – Isaiah 9:6

Isaiah 9:6 For a child will be born for us,
a son will be given to us,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

Daily D – Isaiah 6:8

Isaiah 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord asking: Who will I send? Who will go for us? I said: Here I am. Send me.“

Daily D – Isaiah 1:18-20

Isaiah 1:18-20 “Come, let’s settle this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are crimson red, they will be like wool. If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land. But if you refuse and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.” For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

Daily D – 2 Kings 23:25

2 Kings 23:25 Before him there was no king like him who turned to the Lord with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength according to all the law of Moses, and no one like him arose after him.

Daily D – 2 Kings 20:1-6

2 Kings 20:1-6 In those days Hezekiah became terminally ill. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz came and said to him, “This is what the Lord says: ‘Set your house in order, for you are about to die; you will not recover.’”

Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, “Please, Lord, remember how I have walked before you faithfully and wholeheartedly and have done what pleases you.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

Isaiah had not yet gone out of the inner courtyard when the word of the Lord came to him: “Go back and tell Hezekiah, the leader of my people, ‘This is what the Lord God of your ancestor David says: I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Look, I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the Lord’s temple. I will add fifteen years to your life. I will rescue you and this city from the grasp of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my sake and for the sake of my servant David.’”
